The HCS-40-7, a PCCOM Series Multiport Serial Card, is a 32-Bit PCI RS-232 Controller with Plug and Play features. It provides eight asynchronous RS-232 serial communication ports via an 8-way DB-9 cable. All major Operating Systems are supported.

The HCS-40-7 is a 32-Bit PCI RS-232 Controller with Plug and Play features. The card has eight DB-9 male RS-232 serial communication ports, available via an eight-way 'Octopus' cable, and which can be used for connection to standard serial peripheral devices including terminals, modems, serial printers and plotters.

The HCS-40-7 is a model from the PCCOM Series of Multiport Serial controller Cards. The PCCOM Series includes models for RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 serial communications, with individual devices supporting 2, 4 or 8 serial ports in a variety of formats: dual on-card ports, 4-way cables, 8-way ('Octopus') cables and external wall-mountable Expansion boxes. DB-9, DB-25 and RJ-45 serial sports are featured on individual models. All models in the PCCOM Series have a comprehensive driver suite supporting a wide range of Operating Systems, including all mainstream OS's.

PCCOM Series models share a rich feature set. Integrated 16550, 16650 or 16850 chips (model dependent provide 16, 32 or 128 byte FIFO (First In, First Out) buffers for each port. Normal and High Speed operation modes can be selected, providing up to 115200Bps or 460K baud rate performance respectively. Plug and Play features automate hardware configuration for IRQ and I/O address via is BIOS detection, avoiding the requirement for manual configuration via switches or jumper. To enable the use of standard PC COM1 and COM2, PCCOM Series models can be configured from COM4 upwards. Up to four PCCOM Series cards can be installed in one computer system.
